(19 April 2022, Shanghai and Xiamen) Hurun Education, the education subsidiary of Hurun Report, and Xiamen-based MBA Lib today jointly released the Hurun Education Business Schools Professors 2022, a list of the 50 most published and active professors across five departments at China-based business schools. This is the first year of the list.

The five departments were Marketing, Finance & Accounting, Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management & Organizational Behaviour.

Hurun Education and MBA Lib started out with a list of 663 professors from the five departments of business schools within mainland China: 337 from Finance & Accounting, 142 from Marketing, 70 from Strategy, 70 from Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and 44 from Human Resource Management & Organizational Behaviour.

Hurun Education and MBA Lib then ranked the professors based on the number of their publications and interviews given in the three years from 2018 to 2020.  Publication platforms included Dangdang and CNKI journals. Hurun Education and MBA Lib surveyed 1000 business school students, asking them to nominate the best professors. The final result was a list of 50 professors, with the Top 10 ranked from each of the five departments.

At present, there are 253 business schools in mainland China.

Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher of Hurun Report, said, “Entrepreneurs in China are very enthusiastic about business schools. Although these business schools in China are relatively young, with an average age of under 20 years, many have a world-class alumni. I am delighted to release the Hurun Education Top Business Schools Professors 2022 together with leading business school research and media platform MBA Lib. I hope this list can help prospective students of business schools understand more about the professors and coaches, not just the business school brand.”
